The Landshut Wedding is one of the largest medieval festivals in Europe. It is celebrated during three weeks every four years and it's been going on since 1903. There are between 800,000 and 900,000 visitors from all around the world and more than 2,000 actors and actresses take part to re-stage the wedding between Princess Hedwig of Poland and George, the son of the Duke of Bavaria in 1475. The procession is just part of the festivities, which also include jousting, medieval music and dancing, food and drink, and theatrical performances. Great effort is put into making the costumes look as historically correct as possible and cars are not allowed in the city.
